The Puketapu
The Puketapu is Classic Country Pub not from town. People walk in our doors and feel welcome as soon as they enter, greeted by our friendly staff who love the banter. Our premises are full of the rich history of both the pub and our region as you can see in the photos.
The main topic of choice for the last year has been Cyclone Gabrielle and how it tore through the pub and our community. People stand fascinated while listening to the stories and surprised at how quick the place has bounced back.
All locals already have their drinks being poured as soon as they enter as the staff know exactly what they want. For those wanting a quieter meal they head through to our restaurant where they enjoy the company of those they are with. For those looking for a bit more vibrancy and ambience both the bar and sprawling garden bar is full of it! Local Musicians entertain the crowds on Sundays, Quiz Nights pack out on Thursdays and our famous yearly bull riding night is always a sell out!
We stayed true to our heritage after the rebuild and kept our rustic decor.
