Pomeroys
Describe the experience your customers have at your establishment – what is your food and beverage offering and why do people come back for more?
The experience is cosy and easy. We have a wide variety of spots for people to sit, including a dining room, an outdoor garden area and a few cosy nooks. We have a wide range of beers, a thoughtful cocktail list, and a gin and non-alc list. Our wine list is small but from predominately local suppliers, and our food is consistent - something we feel cannot always be achieved when you dine out. It’s consistent, beautifully made food for the soul.
Tell us how you showcase NZ produce / offerings? Does your menu change with the season and how is it locally influenced. How do you accommodate allergy and dietary requirements?
We try to use as many small and local growers that usually specialise in 1-2 items as possible, which we feel means that we're getting the best possible. We don't change our menu seasonally as we choose to change it more frequently in small ways as well as running daily specials. As far as allergens, we take this very seriously. We deal with them on a case-by-case basis, and usually, most of the dishes can be changed to accommodate. The only time we won't is if we feel the integrity of the dish is compromised, and if this happens, an alternative solution is found.
What are your key points of difference and how have you managed to deliver them?
Consistency every time. People know what they can get from us! Our team are the beating heart of our business and will ensure a beautiful experience every time. We are your true local, community-focused pub.
Tell us about your commitments to Customer Service and Host Responsibility
We have a very well-trained team in both services but also host responsibility, with many of the team having their manager's licences. We prioritise options for all, including low and no-alcohol offerings in the way of wines, beers and cocktails. We encourage our team to express where they need support in all areas, including further training, and when anything new happens, it is communicated well across the team.

Please describe how you create ambience.
We believe that our historic building lends a cosy and inviting ambience. We have thoughtful music, warm lighting, a cosy couch in a library setting, flowers and lamps. We don't have live music as the acoustics aren't great and decided we weren't doing the live acts justice
