Dux Central

Dux Central is one of the few surviving, original exposed brick buildings in Christchurch, which sets the blend of modern style with traditional European pubs.

Our philosophy and guide for setting the atmosphere - The general vibe of a hospitality venue is created by a number of different aspects including the music needs (live or recorded) to suit your clientele. The lighting needs to be altered throughout the day and into the evening – not too bright but not too dim either.

The heating has to be set just right (remember – working staff generally/ideally feel warmer than guests so it’s important to monitor this throughout the day and night).

In a bar situation, as opposed to a restaurant/maitre d situation, there often isn’t a central ‘greeting point’ so it is important to make sure our bar staff are noticing arrivals and giving them a warm and friendly greeting from behind the bar. Draw them in and work out what they are looking for. Likewise, throughout their visit and when they leave, make sure, whenever possible, to thank and farewell them – often the last impression is the lasting impression.
